From the PTASC 26.09.2020

The PTASC are excited about the upcoming happenings that will be going on at the school!  With international week not far off we are trying our best to do new and exciting things since our past traditions have been put on hold this year.

Cookbook:

The PTASC is planning to produce and sell an international cookbook. It will have artwork from the children and delicious recipes from the school community.

With over 30 nationalities at KIS we would like to ask all the community to please send the PTASC recipes.

Please include:

–        Country where the dish is from,

–        Dish name,

–        Photo of dish,

–        Whether it is an appetizer, main, salad, soup or dessert,

–        Ingredients and preparation steps

–        Your child (ren’s) name and year.

Closing date for recipes 5th October.

Please email recipes directly to pta@kis.edu.my

Hampers:

As many of us were not able to travel home over the summer break to stock up, this years’ hampers will be a little different.  We would like to ask for the communities to come together and try their best to come up with items from their home countries. We will also be having some single item donations for bidding as well, if anyone would like to contribute something, please contact us via email. The closing date for this is October 16th, just before the half-term break.

Virtual Tour Around the World:

Because of the current circumstance and SOPs in order, we the PTASC, have come up with an idea to collaborate with the student council (because the kids are much more tech savvy). We would love to put together videos of the students in their traditional dress or national colors presenting something in their native language. The videos would have subtitles and then shared within the year group.

For example, a 4 year old child who is part Brazilian, could sing one of her favorite lullabies in Portuguese. What to share will be dependent on age group and willingness, but it could be a fun way for the children to share their cultures with their classmates. Closing date for this is October 16th.

I hope you all can get as excited as we are for the upcoming happenings!

Have a lovely weekend!
