The PTASC has been silent on the newsletter during the past few months, but we have been quite busy behind the scenes. We took off with the excitement of Sports Day, making sure children, staff and parents were well hydrated. While some parents were manning the stall, others were decorating the school for the next day, the long-expected Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day.

We would like to thank the whole KIS community for another successful event, especially to parents who volunteered their time to stand in during lunch hours, so that our teachers were able to relax and enjoy the amazing amount of delicious food brought in on that day. Also, our heartfelt thanks go to all the generous parents who put in the effort to cook, assemble and bring over an overwhelming spread of international dishes that were savoured with appreciation by our Teachers and Staff. The bunting created by the children and parents gave a unique touch to the day and the rest of the week. We are still receiving notes from teachers, thanking all parents and children for their efforts:

“It really does show the generosity of our parents and it is humbling to be a part of this great community.”

“Thank you for recognising not just the teachers but all the staff at KIS – particularly all the admin and support staff who work so hard and are so vital to the running of the school”

“…would especially like to say a personal thank you for the hugely considerate and kind way in which food containing nuts and peanuts were so clearly labelled and kept in a clear and obvious part of the room. … being able to try so much amazing food and know that it was completely safe to eat was just wonderful! I am hugely appreciative and grateful for this.”

“It was over whelming to see so much food and really made me feel valued. I have never been in a school that has done this and so it was a really unique and positive experience. I also loved the flags with messages on from the students”.

Continuing with our work this term, this week the NFT has organised a small get-together with the new families integrating to our community. A warm welcome to you!

Finally, yesterday you have received the notification for the PTA Annual General Meeting to be held on the 28th of May, at 8.00 am. It has been a great year but it’s almost time to say goodbye for us, therefore we encourage parents/guardians/teachers to become members of the PTA Steering Committee. The nomination form was also sent yesterday, the deadline for submission is on the 24th of May. Please approach any of us if you have the will to become a member or if you know someone that would be willing to do so.

Warm regards,

PTASC
