From the Principal 29.10.2022
Dear KIS Community,
Welcome back, I trust you all had a relaxing break and were able to enjoy Deepavali celebrations. Staff came back one day early on Tuesday and had a very productive day engaged in developing different aspects of pedagogy (teaching & learning) and technologies. The afternoon was spent recharging batteries through wellness activities, ensuring staff were ready to welcome students back on Wednesday.
Yesterday we celebrated Pink October, with the KIS Pink Day. October is a month to raise awareness for breast cancer and all monies raised from Friday will be donated to local breast cancer charities, thank you so much for your generosity. Next month is Movember and you will see many staff growing (or attaching) hairy lips over the course of the month to raise awareness for men’s health issues.
Next week on Monday we have an opportunity to dress up for a scary school day, so use this weekend to plan how to dress to impress. I do feel with Pink Friday before, this is a Beauty and the Beast weekend. I am looking forward to see the creative imaginations of our community coming to life.
On Tuesday we wish bon voyage to our U15 FOBISIA squad, the Vipers. They leave to Thailand to take place in the annual FOBISIA games, and this promises to be a great opportunity for friendly rivalry amongst many students from international schools across the Asian region. Good luck to all of our athletes and thank you to Ms Watt, Mr Watson and Ms Abdullah who will be accompanying them.
The Primary school celebrates their Global Goals Day on Thursday, and we look forward to much engagement from all the students on so many current issues affecting all of us. This then leads us well into the weekend where, on Saturday 5th, KIS plays host to the 5th annual exhibition of UBUNTU. Come along to school during the day for various activities followed by the evening exhibition in the school hall.
The school calendar for the next academic year has been published (school website), and in staff news we congratulate Mr Cyprian Freder (IT Department) on the wonderful occasion of his marriage during the holidays.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
