Dear KIS Community,

Last weekend was very enjoyable and it was great to see so many of our community coming together to support our students. The basketball and football matches were highly competitive for all teams. The Indonesian School were wonderful guests and also as it turns out, very good at both football and basketball. Our thanks to Ms Watt and the PE department (including Mr Baxter and Mr Burrows) for organising a great morning. Thank you also to members of the PTA and student council for refreshments. Just as the last of the students had left, the DoE Bronze group returned from their adventurous journey. Well done to all with the support of Mrs Dyer, Mrs Mullan and Mr Colbeck. Quietly working in the background throughout the day, many drama students could be spotted as they rehearsed the annual Shakespeare production with Mr Bryant. We look forward to the performance later in the year.

The CIS self-study continues with staff, students and parents meeting earlier this week and discussing the various standards that we are rating ourselves against. The CIS Community Survey will be sent to you shortly and we ask all members of our community from Year 6 and above to get involved. Further details about how to access the survey will be sent out next week. The results of the survey will be used to further support our school’s development.

Over the next few days we have a number of students and staff participating in various trips. Our Under 13 Vipers head off to the FOBISIA Games in Phuket on Sunday with Ms Watt and Mr Baxter. They have all been training hard and are ready to compete against the other schools in their group. On Monday, the Year 6 students and staff make their way to Penang for the annual Year 6 trip and we know they will have a fantastic time.

A busy week ahead, and after being away for a few days myself, I am looking forward to being back in school. I have been visiting a potential FOBISIA school to support their application to join the Federation and it was a great opportunity to meet other like-minded colleagues in an aspiring and inspiring school. This was a new school, just starting its own journey and a wonderful reminder for us to reflect on our own journey, not only as a founding member school of FOBISIA thirty years ago, but also for nearly reaching our half century. It will not be long before we celebrate our 50th birthday. We shall be looking forward to these celebrations and will be involving you and our alumni as we get closer.

Thank you to Mrs Renshaw and Mrs Smith. I believe the week has gone smoothly. We did get the chance to discuss the ongoing situation with the Covid-19 and we have agreed that the health checks currently in place will continue until the end of this month. As usual we will continue to monitor the global and local situation and make adjustments as necessary.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,
