Saturday 16th November

Dear KIS Community,

Continuing the theme of learning through collaboration, we have five staff in Penang this weekend taking part in conferences. I have no doubts they will come back refreshed with inspiration and ideas to support the teaching and learning taking place across the school. Teaching and learning, particularly high quality learning is one of our development goals across the school this year. If you want to know more, please come by and ask.

Learning doesn’t just take place in the classroom and it’s good to see the Duke of Edinburgh Award back in full swing this year; Bronze (has already started) and Silver practice journeys will be heading off over the next couple of weeks. Many educational trips are taking place across year groups and subjects and the first of our FOBISIA teams head over to Phuket next week. Drama performances have been taking place; three of our Y11 students took part in the Borneo Arts Festival and you can also see our Drama Showcase on Thursday 21st. It is excellent to be part of a vibrant learning community and I am pleased so many students are able to take part in these enriched curriculum experiences. Good luck to our U15 FOBISIA squad, Go Vipers!

Many of these experiences make for great memories; memories many of our Alumni surely must have. As we get closer to our 50th Anniversary we would like to reach out into our community across these past five decades. Please let us know if you know any KIS Alumni. Anyone who studied at KIS, worked at KIS, was a Parent at KIS at any time and has since left is a part of our KIS Alumni. As we look to our future, we want to hear from our past and get back in touch. Please pass on our Facebook KIS Alumni link:

We are getting ready for the KIS Annual General Meeting. The AGM will take place on Thursday 28th November after drop-off. Save the date for your diary and please make the time to come and be a part of the future of our school. Your input is very much welcome (and wanted). Also on the theme of dates, the KIS Calendar for the next academic year (20/21) is now available through the school website.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,
