From the Principal 12.02.2022
Dear KIS Community,
Not the start of the second half of the term that we had envisioned. I trust you are all keeping well and that home learning has not been too much of a distraction. I wish to thank our staff, students and parents for the smooth transition and understanding for the switch. We will continue assessing the situation so that we can moved forward and support the education and wellbeing for our students and staff as we all learn to live with Covid-19 and come back into school.
Following on from the Chinese New Year holiday, thank you to our wonderful PTASC for organising and supporting events prior to the holiday. Thank you to Nicole Gervasi and helpers for arranging the CNY decorations this year.
This weekend our DofE Gold Award students begin their adventurous journey and we wish them well, thank you also to the accompanying staff. The Gold Award is not a simple affair and is not for the faint-hearted, well done to everyone taking part.
We welcome Mr Williams and his wife to Kota Kinabalu, after what has been the longest journey to be able to join us. Thank you for your perseverance and we look forward to seeing you in person next week and my gratitude to our HR department for supporting them on their way. It shouldn’t be too long before we welcome Ms Haji as well.
Finally, we don’t just celebrate our students’ achivements, we recognise the hard work and efforts of all our community. Mr Simon Enderby, one of our parents, has penned an essay on ‘Food for thought’ which is well worth a read in our community section; enjoy.
Wishing you all a safe and relaxing weekend,
Ian Gross
