From the Principal 05.09.2020
Dear KIS Community,
As we head into September and the end of the third week back already, staff and students are forging ahead with their studies. Everyone appears settled and used to the routine of school. To help with the flow of traffic at the end of the day we have noticed for secondary students, cars pull up opposite the gate to collect students. It would greatly help speed up the process if you could have your child’s name clearly displayed in the front window of your car and as we see you approach we can help get your child ready. Thank you for your support with this.
Colour Meals, our new canteen operator has started the year with many positive reviews for their food, we are working with them to get the right balance of snacks and healthier options for our students. Feedback I have received from the canteen is that a number of parents are making orders too late and this impacts on all students. All meals are prepared on site each day and if orders are not sent in at the right time, this obviously has an impact on expected preparation. Please help us by ordering your child’s meals by the correct time. Colour Meals are working on a website to improve the ordering process and experience.
A letter was sent to all parents yesterday explaining how we will manage PE lessons now that the Ministry has allowed sports to return to schools. As updates occur we will communicate with you and our Post MCO Safety Policy (SOP) will be changed to reflect these updates. Please remember, our most up-to-date SOP is available on the school website at www.kis.edu.my/postmcosafety. Part of our SOP is for parents at the end of the day to be physically distanced when waiting for children. Please be a good example for the children and spread out and use all benches available, not just the ones along the side of the park.
A reminder that we want to continue to support our community and will be continuing the community advert section in our weekly newsletter. If you have or know of any special deals that support our community in Sabah please contact Lisa Ambrose at lambrose@kis.edu.my with adverts or for further information.
A final reminder for the week, the old school logo is no longer is use (other than hats), you can either purchase a patch of the new school logo to go over the top, or you need to replace the item with the new one please.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
