Saturday 4th September

Dear KIS Community,

This weekend we welcome many of our new staff to Kota Kinabalu, after two weeks of quarantine they are finally here and we look forward to welcoming you to them over the next couple of weeks. We can also look forward to the arrival of the remainder of our new staff over the next month or so as we prepare for arrivals from the UK and Brunei into Malaysia.

There is much news and speculation in the media regarding changing SOPs, school openings, travel and more. We do keep aware of the information and always make sure we can verify sources. We are in contact with the Ministry of Health, Immigration and Ministry of Education in Sabah and follow their instruction and guidance. As a committee member with AIMS (Association of International Malaysian Schools) we have been contacting the government to ask for more clarity and greater freedom of direction for international and private schools across Malaysia. When we are able to share news regarding the situation for students we will do so.

The school year continues and with it my constant gratitude for the resilience of our staff and students for the amazing learning and provision that remains in place regardless of the current situation. Thank you too for the support from our parent community, it is very much appreciated, and we will get through this together.

Have a lovely weekend,

Ian Gross
