From the Head of Primary 24.09.2022
One of the outcomes of the community survey, which was completed at the end of last academic year, was that students said they were not sure who to go to for help.
Therefore we made this our theme for this week’s Friday assembly: ‘People who help us at school’. We had two very special guests join us: Ms Siti and Mrs Garrick. They spoke about their roles as the School Counsellor and the DSL (Designated Safeguarding Officer) and how they can help. We also discussed how, as well as the class teachers and the TLAs, students can speak to Mrs Garrick (Head of EYFS/KS1), Mr Beresford (Head of KS2), Ms Suzanie Mosigun (our school nurse) Ms Melissa Petol and Ms Sharon Wong (in the office) and of course myself! We pride ourselves in the knowledge that the students in our care feel safe, secure and happy during their time with us.
As usual we celebrated the Stars of the Week, who went above and beyond to receive their certificates. Also, we announced our very first Bronze Award winners of the year. How amazing to have received 40 house points so early on. A huge congratulations to them!

Also in this week’s assembly, we finally completed our leadership theme by celebrating students who have been accepted to be an Eco Warrior:

A huge thank you to these students for putting themselves forward for this role. I look forward to seeing what amazing things they achieve this coming academic year.
The first Student Council meeting was held this week. It was great to see how enthusiastic they are and they all had some great ideas about improving our school. Their initial focus will be improving lunchtimes and ideas for International Day. I will keep you posted with any developments!
Don’t forget next week we are holding Primary Learning Conferences which is a fantastic opportunity for parents, students and teachers to discuss the progress that is being made. If you haven’t signed up already, please take a look at the year group page on Class Dojo or contact your child’s class teacher.
Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to a number of new students and their families who joined us this week:
Ethan and Trey in F1
Isaac in Y1
Bryan Liew in Y6S
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Take care.
Ms Karen Hitchen
