This week has been a busy week in Primary with two year groups out of school on residential trips.

Year 5 Residential Trip to Kuching

Tuesday saw Year 5 arriving at the airport very early in the morning extremely excited and ready to begin a week of adventures in Kuching. They arrived in Kuching in the early afternoon and straight away began exploring the area. After a lovely dinner at The Commons Restaurant, the children returned to their hotel to fill in their journals. They then had two very busy, fun filled days learning about how the Ancient Chinese migrated to Malaysia and in particular Sarawak, discovering more about life in Ancient China nd also comparing Sarawakian tribes with Sabahan tribes. All the children enjoyed their evening meals and from talking to many of the children who went, food was definitely a highlight (along with souvenir shopping!)

Year 3 Residential Trip to Sabah Tea Gardens

On Thursday morning, the Year 3 students arrived at school again extremely excited and ready to depart for two fun filled days at the Sabah Tea Gardens and in the cooler climate of Ranau and Kundasang. While they were away, they were able to have a behind the scenes tour of the Sabah Tea Factory, participate in team activities around the tea plantation and visit the Desa Farm where the children had the opportunity to feed the cows and goats before having a tour of the farm. I have been told that the highlight of this residential trip was the yummy snack at Desa.

Residential trips such as these are always planned to ensure that the students can consolidate their in school learning through practical hands on applications. In addition to this, it is also an important opportunity for your children to begin to develop their independence skills and begin to learn how to look after themselves and their property in preparation for their future. Children come back from these trips with that little bit more self-confidence and self-assurance.

With so many residential trips already finished this academic year, I know that many of the students are looking forward already to being that bit older and going on the next residential trip.
