From the Head of Primary 20.03.2021

Lights, camera, action! This week the children have been posing for their annual school photographs which will be used in this year’s Year Book. As a proud hoarder of family photos and much to the horror of my three grown-up sons, I still have a large collection of their school photos which when I am back in the UK, delight in showing off to their partners. School photographs are a lovely memento and record of children’s school years to be cherished.

This year, each individual photo of every KIS student will feature in the 2021 Year Book as a record of a very unusual academic year. We would normally include an array of pictures spanning the school year and documenting the wide number of events and activities that would normally take place but as we all know, this year has been very different in many ways. Instead, we are going to include reflections from each student on the highlights of being a member of the KIS community and this will be a task for each child to complete during the Easter break. Over the holiday we would like you to talk to your children about the positive aspects of the school year and we ask that they write (or parents can scribe) their reflection in no more than 40 words onto a shared Google Doc that you class teacher will share with you on Dojo next Friday. As well as being accompanied by their school photograph, children will have the opportunity to choose an additional picture of a piece of work they are proud of to accompany their reflection.

Finally, the Primary Team would like to pass on their huge congratulations to Ms Jez one of our Year 2 TLAs, who delivered a beautiful baby boy on Thursday. We are all so happy for Ms Jez and wish the family all the best as they become a family of four.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and don’t forget that next Friday Primary children will be finishing school at 12pm.
