From the Head of Primary 16.11.2019
With just four weeks left of this term we have been busy preparing for and organising upcoming events. Our first event which is Global Goals Day, will be held on Wednesday 27th November. In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 goals for a better world by 2030. These goals have the power to end poverty, fight inequality and address the urgency of climate change. At KIS we do not just want to raise awareness of global issues but give our children the opportunity to take action and make a difference in the local community. During assembly on Friday I spoke to the children about Teaspoons of Change. Teaspoons of change are small but significant ideas, attitudes and actions that have a positive impact on people and the planet.
Small actions x lots of people = big change.
To find out more have a look at these websites and see how you can support the Global Goals.

Christmas Fair
We have also been preparing for the Christmas Fair which will be held on Saturday 7th December 10.00 – 2.00. The Student Council have been compiling a list of games and events that the children would like to take part in and we need your help to run these and make the Fair a big success. We also need donations of good quality items such as books, stationary and toys for the tombola. Tinned and dried goods, chocolates, wine and toiletries are also needed as prizes and would be much appreciated. We are also hoping to arrange a raffle with some exciting and varied prizes for all ages.
If you are able to donate vouchers, gifts, experiences or items please do get in touch. If parents or friends of the school would like to hire a table to sell their wares we are offering a discounted rate of 50RM. Please do get in touch with me if you are able to support the Christmas Fair. Tickets will be available every morning and afternoon from Monday 18th November.
Other dates for the diary include;
Early Years Christmas singalong Tuesday 10th December 08.00 – 09.00
Primary Christmas singalong Tuesday 10th December 6.00 – 7.00
Enterprise Week Monday 9th – Friday 13th December
Class Christmas parties Thursday 12th December
Last day of school Friday 13th December
It is going to be a very busy last few weeks but with careful planning and preparation we can all enjoy the last few weeks of term. More detail to follow about each individual event.
Healthy Snacks

At KIS we encourage our children to bring healthy snacks to school. I have noticed that some children are bringing chocolate, cookies, biscuits and other sweet treats to school at snack time.
Giving your children healthy snacks for school is very important and something that we strongly encourage as a school. Serving healthy snacks provides good nutrition, supports lifelong healthy eating habits and helps to prevent costly and potentially harmful diseases in the future. Other children however, consistently bring some very healthy and interesting snacks to school so a big well done to them.
Finally, Year Six would like to make the following request. If you are able to help please leave your bottles in the main school office.
Recycle and Upcycle time!
Year 6 need your empty glass bottles please! These can be any shape, size or colour, although 1 litre bottles are preferred. Please ensure that any wine or spirit bottles are completely washed before sending them to school. P
Please give these to any of the year 6 teachers over the next few weeks.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
