From the Head of Primary 15.02.2020
It has been lovely so see so many parents in school this week for the parent/teacher meetings. As parents, you know your children better than anyone else and your involvement in school is greatly appreciated. Strong and respectful relationships between home and school allow us to support your children’s learning and wellbeing which in turn can only have a positive outcome.
Year 3 have been super busy this week preparing for their extended assembly. They have been prop making, learning lines, singing and performing. They were very excited to perform for an audience and did a great job of sharing their learning with parents and friends on Friday morning. The children will repeat their performance next week for the rest of the school during assembly time on Friday. Thank you to all the staff who were involved in putting the Year 3 extended assembly together.
Friday proved to be a very busy day in primary with our Early Years children enjoying a visit from Borneo Reptiles. Over the past few weeks, the children in F2 have been learning about pets and have even brought a few of their own in from home. We have had a visit from Shelley the turtle, Fin the fish and two beautiful guinea pigs. As well as finding out about what animals eat, the children have also been learning about how to care for and handle different animals which made them well prepared for Friday’s visit. The children (and lots of excited staff) had the fantastic opportunity of handling a Burmese Python, a Crested Gecko, a Leopard Gecko, a Ball Python, a Corn Snake, a Cockatoo, a Bearded Dragon and an Iguana! I was so impressed by the children’s curiosity and respect for the animals. They were so brave to overcome their initial fears and every child had a go at handling at least one animal which is more than can be said for some adults (including me!) who did not manage to overcome their fears.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
