From the Head of Primary 14.05.2022
This week, the prefects and student council members helped me to dust off the play equipment which hasn’t been used in over two years. Lunch breaks are now more reminiscent of pre-covid times with all students being able to play together using this equipment. However, as it has been so long since the children have been able to do this, some students needed a little reminder of our rules. This was the focus of our Friday assembly.
Please help by reminding children of these at home.
General rules:
- Students should share equipment.
- Students should return equipment to the boxes once they have finished.
- Students are not allowed upstairs, to classroom areas, at lunchtimes or break times unless accompanied by an adult.
- Students wishing to see the nurse, must get a nurses pass from the teacher on duty before going to the medical room.
- Students must walk sensibly and not play on the walkways, stairways and corridors.
Play Equipment:
- No play equipment from home.
- No play equipment, especially balls in the morning session before school starts.
- Football is allowed to be played on the field, only at lunchtime.
- Soft/sponge balls are allowed to be used on the hardcourt/field, only at lunchtime.
- Basketball may be played on the basketball court using a basketball, only at lunchtime.
Also in this week’s assembly Fion and Ada, from the Eco-Warriors, spoke to the students about recycling and how to use the recycling bins properly:
- Green – The green bin is for plastic materials like plastic bottles or containers.
- Red – The red bin is for aluminium materials like 100 plus cans.
- Blue – The blue bin is for paper materials like scrap paper.
They also reminded the students that they can now recycle their milo cartons. There is a special bin available for these to go into.
The Eco-Warriors have been busy promoting their Trashless Class campaign and this week’s winners are:
Don’t forget the Student Council will be holding a Bric-a-Brac sale at our school Eco Car Boot sale on 21st May. Please support this by bringing in your unwanted goods for them to sell. All items need to be in school by 19th May. All money raised will go to the Student Council Fund to buy new playground equipment.
Finally I would like to extend a very warm welcome to several new students and their families who joined us this week:
Do Hyung in Reception
Haeun in F2
Chaeeun in Y1
Azara and Nicole in Y2
Have a wonderful long weekend and I will see everyone on Tuesday.
Take care.
School Trips this week:
YEAR 3 TO JURASSIC WORLD KIULU
Today, Year 3 jumped into their trusty time machines and flashed back to Jurassic Land Kiulu and the time of the dinosaurs. Whilst there, they got to see moving and roaring dinosaurs up close and learn all about them. Some were even lucky enough to feed a raptor a chicken!! Luckily no children were harmed in the making of this adventure. Following this trip, Year 3 all have a much better understanding of these glorious reptiles and the lands they inhabited.

EYFS TO RASA RIA RESORT
On Thursday this week, the EYFS children went on their first-ever school trip – an adventure to the Rasa Ria. They became wildlife rangers – exploring the jungle, learning about stingless bees and participating in crafts using natural materials. A heap of fun was had at adventure point as the children discovered new levels of bravery on the play equipment, and we ended the day with a delicious lunch and ice cream. The children had a fabulous time and were excellent ambassadors for the school. Thank you so much to the parents who came along to help, we hope that you had a lovely day too!
