From the Head of Primary 10.12.2022
This week I had the pleasure of reading the primary student reports. It was wonderful to read about how much progress students are making. These will be sent out to parent emails next week on Tuesday 13th December.
Two of our primary students, Serene in Y6 and Dahyeon in Y5 were very brave this week by attending the Children’s Global Summit on ‘What does Peace mean to you?’. This is an online event hosted by Nexus International school and attended by many students and teachers from around the world; Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Turks and Caicos, Indonesia, India, the Bahamas, Brunei and the Netherlands! This was a great opportunity for them to meet many students and speak in front of an audience. Unfortunately, there was a technical issue and Dahyeon was unable to enter the call. However, she will get the chance to speak at next week’s assembly, along with Serene who did manage to deliver her amazing speech! A huge well done to Serene.

What a fabulous week Book Week has been. The week began with an assembly, the Big Book Swap, the Big Quiz and the Big Read! Throughout the week there was ‘Big uns and Little uns’, ‘Drop it and Read’ Scavenger Hunts, Guess the Teacher and the Book Door competition where each class competes to have the best book themed door. Thursday was PJ Day and Book @ Bedtime.

Of course, the week ended with the fabulous Book Character Dress Up Day. I don’t think I have seen such an array of amazing costumes before. Well done to all those people who took part. A huge thank you to all those who baked cakes for the Book Themed Cake contest! They were delicious!

Next week will also be jam-packed with fun and exciting events. On Thursday afternoon, each class will have their Christmas party. On this day, students can come to school dressed in party clothes. Please check year group pages on Class Dojo for more details about bringing in party food. Also remember to NOT order canteen lunch that day!
The Y1-Y6 classes will be holding two performances of their amazing Christmas Singalong!
The first one will be within the school day on Wednesday 14th December at 1pm. The second will be on Thursday 15th December at 6pm.
Children will need to be brought back to school for 5:40pm on Thursday so that they can get prepared for their performance. Y5 and Y6 can go directly to the Music classroom next to the hall and Y1-4 can go to the EYs outdoor play area. For both performances, children can come dressed in their finest Christmas clothes with either a Christmas hat or Christmas headband. We would love to see you at either of our performances!
Our final day will be a busy one! The Early Years will have their Christmas Singalong.
Please check Class Dojo for more details about this.
Y1-Y6 will take part in House Challenges; children will compete in a range of challenges in their houses. The winners will be announced in our final celebration assembly of the term at 10:30am. Children can come dressed in their PE kits so that they are in their house colours!
Don’t forget the primary section of the school finishes at 11:30am on that day.
Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to a new student who joined us this week:
Caesar (F1)
I hope to see you all at the Christmas fair shortly. There will be a whole array of vendors and games organised by the student council. Not to mention Santa! See you at 10am.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Ms Karen Hitchen
Head of Primary
Take care.
