Our first Care Week was a huge success! The ‘Wake and Shake’ was a particular favourite of mine. To bring our community together, dancing and singing, is a fantastic way to start the day. Throughout the week, there was a whole range of activities on offer to allow students the opportunity to learn more about looking after their own wellbeing. A huge thank you to a number of staff and parents who gave up their time to provide special lunchtime activities in a bid to teach our students a range of ways to ‘relax’.

Mrs Renshaw, Mrs Garrick, Ms Young, Ms Siti and I hosted a Wellbeing Coffee Morning for parents on Wednesday. This was a lovely opportunity to meet other parents and chat about a number of issues that affect children. If you were unable to attend, do not worry as we plan to hold more in the future.

As it will also be Mental Health Day next Monday, mental health and wellbeing was the theme for our assembly. We discussed how:

  • Mental health focuses on our minds, our emotions and our mental wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel and act.
  • Mental health can affect how we handle things in our daily lives such as the choices we make, how we treat others, how we behave and how we deal with different situations.
  • Just like with our body, it is important that we do things to help our minds to be healthy, be in good condition and feel well.

We shared ideas about the types of things we can do to make us feel good.

Of course, we also announced the Stars of the Week from each class and awarded Bronze certificates.

Next week is a four-day week as Monday is a public holiday. The rest of the week will be a busy one. Y2 have a trip on Wednesday and a Showcase on Thursday; if you are a Y2 parent do pop along to this. More details will be available on Class Dojo.

On Tuesday, I will be hosting a coffee morning for the Primary Class Ambassadors – the PTA will be in touch regarding this.

Friday is the much anticipated return of our fabulous International Day! The day will begin with a Parade of Nations. Students will then return to their classrooms to take part in international themed activities while the PTA and parents set up their food stalls. I am certainly looking forward to the array of food that will be available. In the afternoon, the student council will be organising games and activities for all to take part in. All are welcome to come along and celebrate this wonderful day with us. Please keep checking Class Dojo for any important messages that may come up about this event.

Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to another member of one of our families who joined us this week:

Dania in F1

Wishing you a wonderful long weekend.

Take care,

Ms Karen Hitchen
