From the Head of Primary 08.02.2020
With so many exciting trips and outside learning opportunities planned for this term, both children and staff are very excited about getting out and about. Year 2 have already led the way with their outdoor learning and their weekly hikes to Bukit Padang. As educators, our role is to prepare students for life beyond school and one of the best ways to achieve this is by incorporating learning experiences outside the classroom. Learning outside of the classroom provides real life opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and team work skills. It is about getting children and young people out and about, providing them with challenging, exciting and different opportunities to help them learn. Regardless of where learning takes place, the purpose is the same; to give students a real-world learning experience that will equip them for success in life beyond school. I look forward to hearing all about our upcoming trips and finding out about how the children enjoyed their experiences.
Next week we are very happy to be inviting parents/carers into school for this term’s parent/teacher meetings. The signup sheets have now been taken down however, it is not too late to email your class teacher directly to arrange a convenient appointment. Towards the very end of Term 2 you will receive the second interim report and at the end of Term 3 the full end of year report. We operate an open door policy in Primary and should you wish to meet with your class teacher outside of official parent/teacher meetings please do contact them to arrange a meeting.
Please continue to encourage children to take part in the house mascot competition. We have already received some beautiful and creative entries and look forward to revealing the three winners in the coming weeks. The deadline for entries in Friday 14th February.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
