From the Head of Primary 05.03.2022
During our assemblies this half term, we have been discussing relationships. These relationships include family members, teachers, and friends. We have talked about how essential it is to value, respect and take care of these relationships. Positive relationships are central to the well-being of all those involved.
At KIS we use the following strategies to help build positive relationships with the students:
- Provide structure.
- Teach with enthusiasm and passion.
- Have a positive attitude.
- Incorporate humour into lessons.
- Make learning fun.
- Use student interests to our advantage.
- Show an interest in their lives outside of school.
The following ideas all help to build positive relationships at home:
- Allow for unstructured, uninterrupted time with your child each day.
- Let your child know you’re interested in their activities.
- Encourage children to express their feelings in age-appropriate ways.
- Respect your child’s feelings.
- Play games that explore feelings.
As well, it is important that the school and home work together in partnership to support children to know how to share, take turns, cooperate, listen and sort out disagreements; all of which help them to build successful friendships.
Never has there been a more important time to cherish the relationships we hold dear.
Call For Audition!
Our Secondary Media and Marketing are on the lookout for Y5 and Y6 students to become a host on their ‘In the Spotlight’ show which airs monthly on KIS social media pages.
The show celebrates inspiring KIS students through interviews to find out what they have been up to and where they got their inspiration from. If your child is interested, they can find all the information they need as well as how to sign up for an audition on the class story on Class Dojo.
