From the Head of PE and Sport 31.08.19
Welcome back to the new school year from the PE Department! It’s been great to see students already enjoying being active in their PE lessons over the past week, with Secondary Students getting straight into their unit on Athletics in preparation for Secondary Sports Day. While the primary students have been taking part in a variety of games and activities.
Already KIS students have been taking part in sports competitions outside of school for Tennis and Golf both here in KK and further afield. Please remember to make sure you contact us with details about any major competitions that your child may be participating so we can highlight and share their achievements with all the KIS community.
This year we hope to continue to work hard to expand on the opportunities for students to be active and seek out more competitive events to participate in. Our first competition of the year will take place in a few weeks with nearly 20 students from Primary and Secondary representing KIS Stingrays at the 11th Penampang U12 Swimming Competition on the 21st and 22nd September. More information about this to follow in later weeks.
A major part of our sporting calendar at KIS are the FOBISIA Sports Events. Our U15 FOBISIA Games team will be commencing training next week in preparation for their competition taking place from November 18th-22nd. Parents of students in Year 7 and 8 should all have received a letter about the U13 FOBISIA Games taking place in February. If you did not receive this letter or would like more information on the FOBISIA games then please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing me at cwatt@kis.edu.my
Below I am including the dates of the some of the FOBISIA events we hope to be able to send teams to throughout the academic year. I would ask that if there are any parents who are interested in their children attending either the FOBISIA Swimming in Seoul or the FOBISIA Tennis International being hosted by BIS Phuket that you please contact me so I can get an initial idea of interest for these two events. I’d also like to point out that due to an overlap of dates, students will not be able to attend both the U13 FOBISIA Games and the FOBISIA Tennis.
