From the Head of PE and Sport 19.08.2023
Welcome back to all members of the KIS community for what I have no doubt is going to be yet another AMAZING and ACTION packed year of PE and Sport at KIS! I am looking forward to seeing all the familiar faces and meeting many new ones at one of the many events and activities that the PE Department will be running throughout the year.
Summer sports wrap up!
While many of us may have been getting through our summer reading lists or exploring new places, or simply putting your feet up for a well earned rest after a busy school year. Many students were still out and about representing KIS and beyond in a wide array of sports and activities.
Liga SupaRimau Season B
Whilst the final round of the competition was completed at the end of June, I was unable to announce the recipients of the end of season awards presented at the last weekend’s fixtures.

Congratulations to the following players on being recognised by both their coaches and peers for their outstanding efforts in Season B.
Under 8’s
Coach’s Player – Eden Park
Most Improved – Ocean Oh

Under 10’s
Coach’s Player – Isaac Fong
Player’s Player – Thomas Clifford
Most Improved – Roy Ryu

Under 12’s
Coach’s Player – Caelan Bromley
Player’s Player – Devon Rao
Most Improved – Justin Kim

As was highlighted many times last year, we were blown away by the speed of development and subsequent improved results in all players throughout Season B.
Registrations for Season C for Under 12’s are closed due to reaching our maximum squad size again of 20. There are still a few places available for the Under 8’s and Under 10’s.
Under 8’s is for children currently in Year 3 and Year 4 born in 2015 and 2016. (please note we will not be accepting any registrations from students in Year 2 for this season)
Under 10’s is for students born in 2013 and 2014.
The league allows for girls to play DOWN an age group. So if there are any girls interested in giving football a try from Year 6 or Year 7 born in 2011 or 2012, then they could play in the Under 10 team. Same rule applies for girls born in the 2013 or 2014 who are eligible to play in the Under 8’s.
Final registrations for Season C will close on Wednesday 23rd August.
Details regarding training and payments for the upcoming season will be emailed to parents at the end of next week.
MSSD/MSSS/MSSM
Throughout the past couple of months we have had numerous students competing at MSSD (Local), MSSS (State) and now even MSSM (National) competitions.
You can see the highlights in the pictures.

We wish those who have progressed to the next level of competitions including Dashie (8K) for MSSS in athletics and Natalie (9K) going on to MSSM in Ten Pin Bowling the very best of luck in their future events and can’t wait to report back on their achievements.
KIS students selected in KK and State Teams.
Following on from the successes of our U15 Basketball teams in May last year, four students were selected to play for Kota Kinabalu at the State Cup. Dasha, Pui San and Mischa were all selected for the girls team and Sebastien was picked in the boys team.
From this event, Dasha was even selected in the Sabah State squad which is a huge achievement and a well-deserved result from the hours of training and commitment she has made to improving her skills.
KIS – Keeping it Sweaty!
What did you do over the summer break to keep active? We want to see how member of the KIS community look after their health and well-being by being physically active.
