Sabah Table Tennis State Title success for Jin Wei
Back in September, Jin Wei from 6S represented his table tennis club, the Tuaran Ping Pong Association at the State Titles on the other side of Sabah in Sandakan where he finished in third place and qualified to represent Sabah at the National Championships next week.
Despite only having taken up the sport a couple of years ago he is already enjoying a lot of success, but most importantly as you will read below, showing a very mature growth mindset and understanding that when we put ourselves in challenging situations, they can be wonderful learning experiences.

“A couple of months ago, I went to Sandakan for my state table tennis tournament and placed third. I never thought that I would place that high and I feel very happy from that experience. Now I’m about to go to nationals and of course I feel nervous, but I also kind of feel excited. Well, sure maybe I won’t get first place or get a medal at all, but I think that it will allow me to find different elements of my play that I could improve on. In conclusion, I am really excited and will do my very best to place first. Wish me luck!”
At Jin Wei’s request, please join me in wishing him all the very best as he undertakes his next big challenge!
KIS CUP – Final rounds and gearing up for the finals!
Despite a few teams being a few players down on Monday, we were thankfully able to conclude the Year 3 and Year 4 Tournament Round Robin matches which saw some high scoring games that saw Mexico finish on top of the table undefeated and Argentina, The Netherlands and Australia joining them in progressing to the semi-finals next week.
Now just like the World Cup, the KIS Cup moves into the finals next week with the semi-finals being played for both tournaments on Monday, while the finals will take place on Thursday. Parents are welcome to come down and support the teams, so check out the schedule of matches below and please join me in doing a “NOT rain dance” to bring the sun and dry weather next week!
