From the Head of PE and Sport 10.06.2023
This week we have seen the ban on outside physical activities lifted and it has been nice to see students running around outside during breaks and primary PE lessons again.
Here at KIS we have always had policies in place to safeguard children against the risks of heat and sun exposure. One of these policies is that students MUST wear a hat whenever they are outside in PE lessons, playing at break times or during ECA’s. Please make sure your child always has their hat as part of their daily uniform to assist with this. Making sure their name and class is clearly visible on the hat somewhere will also help it get returned if misplaced at any time.
Applying sunscreen is another preventative measure for those more sensitive to the sun, but also good practice for everyone.
Within PE lessons, when students can be outside for longer periods of time, staff will always break up the lessons with regular shade and water breaks to prevent dehydration.
With the return to outside PE lessons, we will continue to follow our heat and sun policies to ensure that students can safely enjoy being active when at school. If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Liga SupaRimau Season B – Round 2 wrap-up
Our under 8’s got their first taste of competitive football last Saturday, and from all reports they loved it! It was wonderful to see Eden, Junu and Sung Woo from Year 2 come racing up to me on Tuesday morning to tell me all about their first match. They were buzzing with excitement and wanting to tell me how they had gotten on. When I asked them had they had fun, it was an exuberant “YES” from all three. You can’t ask for more than that.

Congratulations to the following players for earning the Player of the Match award last week.
Under 8’s = Xavier

U15 Sprizter Cup – A very happy ending to a tough competition!
Check out the photos of the girls receiving their 3rd place award at the presentation ceremony last Sunday that was carried out following the finals.

In addition to the team’s 3rd place trophy, individual silverware was also claimed by Dasha (9S) as she won the award for “Top Rebound” after finishing on top of the stats table for winning the most rebounds throughout the tournament. Well done Dasha, great achievement!
