Return to school: PE arrangements for Secondary
Like all staff, the PE Department is very excited to be welcoming back students in Years 10-13 for face to face lessons from Monday. As in the past, we will ensure that we take all necessary precautions and will be adhering to the school’s SOP to prioritise students’ safety when taking part in PE lessons. This will include making sure that students maintain physical distancing during lessons and regular sanitization and cleaning of equipment between classes. Please also note that students will be asked to remove masks whilst participating in any physical activities, but these can be worn during periods of rest or during instruction delivery.
In order to reduce the potential of students congregating in groups whilst changing for PE during breaks, students will again be following the modified uniform rules as set out below.
- ALL Students in Years 10-13 are to wear their PE uniform to school on any day that they have PE.
- On Monday’s (Year 10) and Friday’s (Year 11), students are to bring their normal school uniform with them. At the end of the double lesson, students will be given time to change in small groups on rotation back into their school uniform.
- On Wednesday’s, Year 10 students will remain in their PE uniform for their final lesson instead of changing into their normal school uniform.
- Students in Year 12 and 13 are to bring their normal uniform to school on both PE days. Students will remain in their PE uniform following their lesson and then change in the first available break after their PE lesson.
We appreciate that many students may have grown over the past several months since being in school and may be in need of new uniform items. If your child has outgrown their PE uniform, please make sure that they still have appropriate sports attire as an alternative for lessons and ensure that a new uniform is bought from the KIS Uniform Shop within the next two weeks. It is an expectation that all students in Secondary school are following the PE uniform code for lessons which includes wearing their House t-shirt, navy KIS shorts and the KIS school hat when outside for every lesson.
If you have any questions about the SOP for PE lessons or are unsure about the uniform information above, then please do not hesitate to contact me at cwatt@kis.edu.my
AIMS Virtual Olympics continues
This online competition is set to continue for the next two weeks and we would encourage any students aged 8 and over to take part in this fun and competitive sports event.
Students can take part in any of the six events and there is no requirement or expectation for them to take part in all events.
The leaderboards are updated each week and so you can see current results for each age category in all events by checking out the website here. You will also find the event entry videos and the link to the Google Form to submit your video entries with.
Parents please be advised that all entries do require a name, email address and video to be accepted and verified.
Best of luck to any students entering and hopefully we can report some KIS students appearing on the Leaderboard in next week’s newsletter.
