Pokémon House Challenge Update

As mentioned last week, the FOBISIA Virtual run closed yesterday on the 1st April, BUT the KIS Pokémon House challenge will be running for the next 2 weeks during the holidays, giving students staff and parents, plenty of time to log some more runs or family walks to add some House Points to your team totals.

To date, Gaya leads the way while Sapi and Sulug are tied behind them. Seanan in 4K along with his parents have managed to capture Eevee, Dragonite and Squirtle in the 3km category which gives them 18 points in total towards topping up the Pangolins House effort. Alsp, supporting the Gaya effort in Secondary is Debbie from 10K who has tested herself in both the 3km and 5km distances. She has so far successfully caught Dragonite and Mew!

Remember all students will receive individual dojos or merits for participating in the challenge and all staff, parents and students can earn House points for the different Pokémon on the list they can successfully catch.

To enter, simply complete 3km, 5km or 10km, screenshot your completed activity as evidence and then fill in this simple Google Form – KIS Pokémon House Challenge

Ramadan and fasting students in Physical Education lessons

Last week, a letter was sent out to all parents with an attached Google Form for parents to complete if their children will be observing the ritual of fasting during the holy month of Ramadan that begins this weekend.

If your child will be fasting, please complete the Google Form here – Fasting Students Register and indicate if you would like your child to be fully exempt from taking part in physical activities during this time, or, if  they are able to participate in light activities under the guidance of their teacher. In order to help safeguard student health and safety whilst fasting, it is essential that we have these details.

Please note, this form does NOT need to be completed if your child is NOT fasting for Ramadan.

Ramadan Mubarak to all our KIS families celebrating this month.

Secondary Offsite Lessons for Year 9 and Year 10

Starting from Monday 18th April, students in Years 9 and 10 will again enjoy leaving school grounds and traveling to Borneo Sports Arena for the first time since we first entered Covid-19 restrictions over 2 years ago. Students are extremely excited to again take part in some of their favourite sports activities such as Futsal and Floorball.

As mentioned previously, students will need to be fully vaccinated to enter the premises and scan in when entering the venue using their phone and MySejahtera App. Please note, students will be responsible for caring for their mobile phones. Students will be required to take a bag with them to the venue where their phones will be stored during the lesson.

For students who do not carry a phone to school, they will need to bring with them a hard copy of their vaccination certificate to show on request and  also sign in on arrival.

On these days, (Mondays Year 10 and Wednesdays Year 9) students will leave school at the start of lesson 3 and return at the end of lesson 4. Students are still asked to wear their PE uniform to school and bring their normal school uniform to change into once they return to school.

Students who are not permitted to go off site will be completing private study in the library during this time and will participate in their other PE lessons at school as normal.

The PE Department are very excited to this small step forward in returning to offering our full and extensive curriculum and hope that we will also be able to extend these opportunities to students in years 7 and 8 in the near future.

Have a wonderful relaxing, but as always active, holiday KIS! See you back for more fun and games in PE in two weeks!
