Book Week Update 07.03.2020
Book Week reminders!
Book Week is nearly here! Only a week left to make sure costumes are ready for the Character Parade on the 20th, and that a book has been donated for the Big Book Swap on the 16th. If you are entering the Cake Contest, make sure you have ingredients and time for baking (cakes need to be ready for the 20th), and that photos for the Extreme Reading competition have been staged, taken, and are ready to send! Students are making excellent progress with their Book Passports, trying to read seven books in 5 weeks, and evidence suggests that the preparations are being made for some incredible Book Door decorations to make the school look truly futuristic! Phew! Plenty to get on with there!
Don’t forget that I will be running Workshops in the Secondary Library Mon- Thur of Book Week, either making origami bookmarks, or making beautiful mini-books- Please see the noticeboard outside the Library for more details.
Year 6 and 7 are beginning to mentally prepare for the complicated but exciting Blade Runner game. Instructions have been delivered to Year 6 students already, and Year 7 will be receiving theirs next week- be prepared for some very competitive hunting for rogue robots!
The ‘Drop it and Read’ bell is all ready to go too- 3 short blasts means it’s time to drop everything and read! All students will need their reading book with them at all times to make sure they are ready to read whenever the bell rings!
And winners of the Tutortime Quiz in Secondary will be competing for a cake and a form party- and the glory of knowing that they are the cleverest, best read form! Primary will also be having Book Quizzes and puzzles throughout the week, not to mention their Scavenger Hunts around the Library and the school site.
It’s going to be a wonderful, exhausting, exciting week!
