From the Principal, 23.03.19
Dear KIS Community,
Thank you to Mrs Davis and Ms Marriott, along with the Eco Warriors and everyone who was able to help with the beach clean last week. It was a beautiful day and the beach at Tanjung Aru is now even cleaner with more than 200KG of rubbish removed by the KIS community. Well done to everyone. Great job.
More thanks and appreciation, to all the parents that were able to attend the Drop Off & Drop In this past Wednesday. We had nearly sixty parents come to our monthly coffee morning and take part in the presentation about option choices and discussions around issues affecting our parents. Some very good points were raised and as a school we will be actively addressing them.
Student trips continue, with Year 5 students having an excellent week in Kuching and Year 3 having an overnight stay at the Sabah Tea Gardens. My thanks to all of our staff that continue to make these educational trips exciting and such worthwhile experiences.
Coming up over the next couple of weeks, preparations are in full swing for our Family Fun Day on Saturday March 30th. This promises to be a great day packed with many activities for the whole family. I look forward to seeing you all there. The week after we will be hosting a book fair from April 1st to April 4th in the MPR. This will be an opportunity to come and browse a wide selection of children’s fiction and non-fiction titles. No need to go to the mall, come and have a look at the books on offer at drop off or pick up.
I am aware that some parents may still have questions regarding Nicholas and the incident at Likas last month. Whilst we have concluded our own investigations we are still waiting to hear the outcome of local authority investigations and it would be inappropriate to comment until this time. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
In staff news, we say our fond farewells to Sarah Burns and family. Sarah has been with KIS for over eight years and having accepted a new role in another school, will be returning to the UK with her family. On behalf of all our community, I thank Sarah for all she has done at KIS and wish her and her family well. There was a lot of interest for the Marketing role and having met with a couple of excellent candidates, I can confirm that Mrs Lisa Ambrose will be joining us at KIS to continue the great work done by Sarah.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Ian Gross
Principal
