From the Head of Primary 02.09.2023
I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful Merdeka Day on Thursday. The children all returned to school with boundless amounts of energy.
It has been another wonderful week of engaging learning and fun, in the primary school. I have continued to be impressed by the resilience and hard work our students have shown this week. They are truly getting back into the swing of things at KIS.
We have had some amazing activities taking place this week from chocolate making in Year 2, to maths treasure hunts in Year 4. The staff have been developing more and more exciting and engaging activities for the children, and the children have taken to these with great enthusiasm and commitment.

If you have any clean bottle tops of any colour, then Ms Gibbons has requested as many as possible to create some recycled art with the EYFS children. If you have any to donate, then please ensure that they are clean. The children can bring them in to their class teacher, who will pass them on to Ms Gibbons. Thank you in advance for your support.

Once again, our Friday assembly focussed on the theme of leadership with many opportunities on display. Our Library Cadets were announced by Ms Baigu, who will have 21 awesome Year 4-6 students to help keep our primary Library looking its best. We also heard from Mrs Clifford, who spoke about the upcoming student council speeches next week in class. She outlined some core values of student counsellors, passed down by the previous team, such as: communication, creativity, kindness and superb ideas. I have no doubt that the students running for student council this year, will exhibit all these traits and more.
My favourite part of this week was hearing from the brave Year 2 House Captain candidates, who spoke in front of the whole school. They spoke with clarity, passion and courage; they were a real credit to themselves and our school. I have no doubt that they will be incredible house captains. Next week, we will be presenting the new Year 2 and 6 House Captains to the students after our weeks of voting. I for one, can’t wait to see who they will be!
As usual, we announced the Stars of the Week. Well done to the following students for demonstrating our Behaviour Agreement qualities.
Finally, I would like to welcome some new students and their families to the KIS community this week:
Angelina in Y1K
Sumin in Y3K
Lucas in Y6K
I wish you all a wonderful weekend ahead.
Take care
Mr Mark Beresford
Head of Primary
