From the Head of Primary 14.01.2023
Welcome Back!
Term 2 has started in a rather calm manner which is just wonderful! With this only being a 2 week half term, everybody has thrown themselves straight back into their learning. The primary teaching team have been busy making plans for more showcases and assemblies in order to involve you in this learning. Getting involved in your child’s education is a great way to increase your child’s confidence, self-esteem and motivation as well as helping to improve their grades. Take the time to talk to your child about all the amazing things they are learning in school.
We are also busy planning trips and for KS2, we are bringing back the overnight residential trips. Going on school trips really helps students gain real-world experience that cannot be taught in a classroom, opening their minds to different cultures and strengthening their knowledge of the world around them.
The following are some of the key benefits of students undertaking school trips:
- Bring subjects to life
- Boost self-confidence
- Increase motivation
- Encourage good behaviour
- Broaden their horizons
Please ensure you are connected to Class Dojo and that we have your correct email address so that you don’t miss out on any of these exciting opportunities.
This week, in our celebration assembly, we welcomed the New Year with a discussion of celebrations around the world. We celebrated the Stars of the Week and gave out Bronze and Silver certificates!

Yesterday, the learning for this term (MTPs) and the Homework Grids were posted on Class Dojo. Please look out for these and if you have any questions speak to the class teacher.
Next week we celebrate Chinese New Year. We are planning for the Lion Dance to visit all the classrooms. Children may come in traditional clothing or wear clothes that are red if they so wish. As well, the school photography team will be in Tuesday to Thursday. Please check the timetable for which day your child’s class will be photographed and ensure your child is wearing smart and appropriate attire.
Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to the many new students and their families who joined us in primary this week:
Aziz in F2
Ava and Roora in Y3
Ethan in Y4
Dahyeon in Y5
Eden and Nathaniel in Y6
Have a wonderful weekend. Take care.
Miss Karen Hitchen
