From the Head of Primary 11.06.2022

Welcome to our final half term, and what a busy one it is going to be!

Y5 started the week with a trip to STAR (read all about this fabulous day out at the end) and Y6 will be going out on their class trip next week. Each year group will be involved in a Sports Event (more information to follow) and there are more class assemblies/showcases to look forward to. In the final week we are holding a Science Day and an Arts Day. What a way to finish the year!

In the next couple of weeks, we will also be thinking about transition to the next year group and/or keystage. Your child will take part in one or more transition sessions to prepare them for this move. These transition sessions are important as we need to:

  • Ensure children are happy and confident about the move
  • Promote emotional security
  • Give students an awareness of expectations
  • Give students an opportunity to ask any questions they may have
  • Prepare children for a new environment and help them to adapt.

For many children moving onto the next year group will not be an issue but for those who need a bit of extra reassurance, we hope that the transition arrangements we have planned will provide the support needed (more information to follow). To help, you can talk to your child about how they feel about the move and if they have any concerns then encourage them to speak to their class teacher and/or help them to prepare a list of questions for their transition sessions.

EYFS assembly

On Thursday, the children in Early Years performed an amazing assembly to their parents and the Key Stage 1 students. We found out all about their fabulous trip to Rasa Ria and all the things they had learnt about bees, snails and spiders! According to Levi in F2, the best honey comes from stingless bees!

This week’s Trashless Class winners are: Year 1! Well done to them

Check out our Stars of the Week this week!

Finally I would like to extend a very warm welcome to three new students and their families who joined us this week:

Kris and Eshaan in F1

Kataro in F2

Have a wonderful weekend.

Take care.

School Trips this week:

Year 5 Eco-Tourism Trip to Shangri-La Tanjung Aru

Year 5 were extremely excited for our first trip in over two years on Tuesday! We had a fantastic time at the Shangri-La, Tanjung Aru learning more about eco-tourism and how the company and resort have been adapting their values and practise to make the hotel more sustainable and environmentally friendly. We had the opportunity to interview some amazing staff members about their jobs and also had a sneak peak behind the scenes to see all the things you don’t see on holiday, like the kitchen, laundry room and water bottling room. We finished off a brilliant day with the biggest pizzas we have ever seen for lunch!
