PRIMARY HOUSE POINT AWARDS

Another week of hard work, amazing learning, and KIS students achieving their full potential has resulted in more housepoint awards presented to a range of pupils across the Primary school!

Just to make the run up to the finding out who will be the End of Term 2 Housepoint Champions, Primary students pulled it out of the bag this week and gave us the most exciting result in the weekly battle that we’ve seen this term! Not only did the winning House clinch victory by a meagre 1 housepoint, there was only a second place House as both remaining houses earned the exact same amount of housepoints! Could it get any more exciting?!

The housepoints awarded to each team was:

In JOINT 2nd place with 239 housepoints is Gaya and Sapi!

In 1st place with 240 housepoints is Sulug!

Our congratulations go to Sulug Sharks again for securing another win!! Who will we be celebrating as Housepoint Champions next week?!

DOJO CHALLENGE

Primary appears to have been taken over by a collection of dare devils who have excelled in extreme reading this week! I was amazed at all the photos shared showing weird and wonderful spots that our students have found to cosy up and read their favourite story! You may have been shocked to see some of these weird and wonderful places if you were out and about around KK as students were shown reading in shopping trolleys at supermarkets, up trees, hanging from playground equipment and even hiding in cupboards with head torches! The entries to the Extreme Reading Challenge will be voted on fiercely by Mrs. Colbeck and Ms. Kerry who will join our Primary leadership team to decide on the winners. Announcements will be made next week!

As March is drawing to an end, the March Maths Challenge has now finished and will return soon with the April challenge!

On Saturday 26th March, Earth Hour is celebrated around the world as millions of people hit the off switch on their lights for 1 hour between 8:30pm and 9:30pm. For the Fun Challenge this week, join us in doing the same to show your support of nature and our planet. What exciting things will you do during this Earth Hour? The Primary EcoWarriors have compiled an extensive list of ideas to help you out and this can be found in the Weekly Challenge folder linked on Dojo. Snap a photo of the fun you have celebrating Earth Hour to complete this week’s fun challenge!

SECONDARY HOUSE NEWS

The NBA 2Ball League continues to grow in popularity and has now had 30 pairings compete in the “league” is played each Monday for the rest of term 2 in the Sports Hall at lunch.

Current Top 10 standings are:-

Physical Challenge – Backwards Basketball shot

This challenge involved standing on the free-throw line and turning your back to the hoop. From this position, you need to throw the ball over your head and into the ring to score a point for your house. We had a boy only and girl only ring and the activity was very well attended despite the difficulty of the task. Those that managed to successfully complete the task were:-

PE House competitions

Over the last three weeks of term students in Key Stage 3 have been competing in House competitions for Volleyball & Team Badminton during lesson time. This spirit of competition has spread to Years 10, 11 and 13.

Most of these tournaments are ongoing at the time of writing but the students have taken to these competitions with gusto!

There promises to be considerable House standing movement as the bucket load of points that will be scored in these events is toted up.

The last two weeks have seen considerable change in the overall house positions. SAPI has surged from a distant last into the lead at one point yet this week SULUG has charged back into the lead after the first 2 results of PE events!

I observe that SULUG appear to do well in practical events and SAPI seem to surge with Merits. What of GAYA do I hear you say? Well, consistency is key and at the time of writing only 87 points split all three houses with SULUG leading by just 3!
