Dear KIS Community,

I hope you are all safe and well at this time. I understand the past few days have been quite difficult for a number of our community as a direct result of the floods from Wednesday night. Unfortunately within our own community we have heard of a lot of water damage to homes and properties and I would like to appeal for donations to support our families. If you wish to send monetary donations, this can be done by referencing ‘flood donation’ to the school Maybank account shown below. Any items you wish to donate can be left at the front gate of the school and if you wish to donate time to help with clear up please get in touch me.

Bank: Maybank Account number: 560 102 107 440

Beneficiary name: Kinabalu International School

Ref: Flood Donation

As we look forward to our older students returning to school next month we have not heard news from the Ministries regarding the need for students to have been vaccinated, however, Sabah is now allowing walk in vaccinations for children from 12 years and up if you wish for your child to be vaccinated. The Ministry has stated that all staff in school must be fully vaccinated when children are present and we can reassure you that this will be followed.

Regarding staff, we are looking forward to Damian Grant arriving in KL to start his quarantine this weekend before being able to join us in KK in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, earlier this week we received news from Colin Dickinson that he has had to return to the UK for family reasons and will no longer be able to join KIS, Mrs Renshaw explains further in the secondary section. We now need to bring out Megan Siddall who has been patiently and diligently working with Year 1 from the UK, as soon as possible.

Finally, I am looking forward to some more parent interaction coming up, the PTA New Friends Team meeting for new families and the Year 10 Parent meeting with Ms Service. News of virtual coffee mornings for Primary & Secondary parents will be coming soon.

Have a lovely weekend,

Ian Gross
