From the Head of Primary 21.03.2020

Well, what a week it’s been! Despite not being able to go ahead with the Book Week assembly on Monday morning, the week got off to a great start with a number of exciting Book Week activities. The in class book swap was very popular and children loved listing to stories in the story tent. 

By Tuesday however, the situation changed and it was clear that we were going to have to close. Immediately staff were busy preparing home learning activities and carefully and sensitively explained what was going to happen moving forward to the children. 

Despite the challenges it has been absolutely fantastic to witness how the whole school community have come together at this difficult time. Primary teachers have been posting a good morning message to their class every day in order to maintain a connection between themselves and the class and I have loved watching them all. Lessons have been posted on dojo and a number of excellent learning platforms are being utilised for us to continue business as usual. Well almost business as usual. Our Teaching and Learning Assistants have also been playing their part in staying in touch with the children and have been posting videos and challenges of their own. 

As always, your feedback is really appreciated as we continue to provide remote learning for our children. It has been lovely to receive encouraging and complimentary emails concerning our efforts but it is equally important that you let us know how we can develop and improve your child’s home learning experience.

It is very clear there is a strong bond between us all and your support as parents has been invaluable to us. 

Thank you for your continued support and keep posting on dojo. It really is wonderful to see what the children have been up to.
