WELLBEING NEWS 26.11.2022
Dear KIS Community,
In this week’s wellbeing newsletter I would like to share strategies to enhance helpful thinking. Have you ever, come across instances where you find yourself silently thinking:

There are 1001 more examples of these types of unhelpful thinking. They are what they are, unhelpful.
So, I would like to share these recommended strategies on how we can beat unhelpful thoughts to make our lives happier and more productive.
- Label the thoughts – Label the thought as an unhelpful one.
By labelling the thought, it will be easier for you to not give it too much attention.
- Place the unhelpful thoughts in the corner of your brain – Practice to push away the thought and not give it attention.
- Stand up to the bully – Just like a bully, unhelpful thoughts say bad things about you that are not true. They appear strong and loud. Ignore them and ‘walk away’.
- Give yourself a break – i) Talk to someone about it ii) Say it out loud and think about how a person that loves you, will respond to those thoughts iii) Also, reflect on how you will respond to the person you love, when they share these negative thoughts with you.

Just like other good habits, shutting down unhelpful thoughts needs practising. If you still find it difficult, ask for support and talk about it with someone you trust.
Till then- see you in the next newsletter.
