Saturday 19th September

Dear KIS Community,

Health and Safety is my focus for this week’s newsletter. From the point of view of health, we have noticed a few students over this past week have been unwell at school. If your child is unwell in the morning, do not bring them to school. If your child is found to be unwell during the school day, we will contact you and ask you to come and collect to take your child home. We understand common colds and flus are still around so there is no need to panic. If a child (or staff member for that matter) is unwell and has flu-like or cold-like symptoms, they will need to visit a doctor before being allowed back in school. It is better to check and let a doctor decide if further tests are needed. We really do thank everyone for taking a part in helping to keep us all healthy whilst at school.

From the point of view of safety; a number of parents have been commenting on cars and driving outside of school. We all want our children to be safe and to not worry about being hit by cars. So, please can we all observe a few courtesies: not driving fast outside school, not using our phones whilst driving, being aware of what is behind us when we reverse? All common sense really, but sometimes forgotten when we are trying to beat the rush. Our staff are available to help the traffic flow, but please remember, whilst it is a public road, we can all help to make it safer for our children.

Today, 19th September, is Coastal Clean-up Day and of course, we are disappointed that we cannot organise a KIS community beach clean-up where we can all get together. However, perhaps you will take a walk along a beach later today and pick up some trash as you go along. Please follow the Ocean Conservancy’s Guidelines on safe beach clean-up and don’t forget to upload how much you collected on the Clean Swell app.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,
