Dear KIS Community,

Happy New Year, I trust you are all well and safe. Welcome back to all of our families and hello to some new faces at school. It has been wonderful to see so many students back in school and to hear the usual noises of school life through the day.

We appreciate that all of you will have different concerns and we are doing our best to address these and ensure a safe environment for our children and staff to work together. As part of our ongoing review of our SOP we will now expect staff and students to be wearing masks in class unless they need to be communicating more clearly.

Soon all of us at school will be readying ourselves as we prepare for the forthcoming virtual visit from CIS for our reaccreditation in March. I would like to thank all the staff, parents and students who have (and continue) to do so much for our self-study and prepare their domain documentation to be sent ahead of the virtual visit. This has been a tough but necessary process that would not have been possible without the support of so many. Thank You.

If you didn’t receive your pre-ordered PTA Recipe Book please do ask your child or pop by the office yourself to come and collect. If you didn’t manage to order one you still can. Have a look at the KIS online shop. Whilst there, take a look at our range of KIS facemasks that support social and local enterprise from a local community of women from Kiulu, in conjunction with the BEST Society.

Recently, with rising numbers of Covid, there have been a number of rumours along with some fake news circulating on social media regarding another MCO. We are following Ministry and Government guidance and when we receive validated news that impacts the school we will inform you. If we have to enter another period of online learning, we are well set up to switch very quickly. We are reviewing what worked well in the last period to ensure we support your children in the best ways possible. We are happy to have your feedback of the last online experience (students and parents) and I would ask you to contact the relevant Head of School with your comments.

Next week we have Year 11 taking their Mock IGCSE’s and on behalf of all their teachers, I wish them all the very best of luck. We are in contact with Cambridge Examinations regularly so that we can make sure if there are any changes to the May/June Exams for IG or A level, we are prepared and ready to make sure our exam students are prepared. We will not let Covid-19 compromise the outcomes for any of our students.

If anyone has lost a MayBank Card please come to the school office as a card has been found at school on Thursday. A quick reminder, we have pledged to be a single use plastic bag free school. Please do not send your children to school with single use plastic bags; thank you for your support.

Please keep us updated with any changes to your circumstances so that we can support you and your children.

Stay safe, have a lovely weekend and see you next week.
