From the Eco Warriors 26.11.2022
On Wednesday 9th November we welcomed two auditors from Green Growth Asia Foundation, here to assess our Green Flag Award application submitted last year by Ms Davies. The wonderful news received this week of our successful application is really down to the students they met on that day and those who have been working hard for many years in and outside of Eco Warrior meetings to move KIS in a more sustainable direction. We would like to say a huge well done and thank you to all past and present Eco Warriors and particularly to Kayla Khoh, Serene Chia, Sophia Chua and Andi Andellia from the Primary Eco Warriors who presented to the visitors and to Tiggi Mornington-Sandford, Hannah Hammer, Sabrina Maichel, Isabelle Clifford, Fion Ho, Ada Pian and Grace Lee from Secondary who confidently shared the projects they are passionate about and have been working on in school. They were a credit to KIS and the visitors were full of praise for our young leaders in the quest for a truly sustainable school!
For your information, the members of the 2022/23 Eco Schools Committee who meet 4 times per year are: Tiggi Mornington-Sandford, Rain Ma, Pik Yen Tong, Benson Tan, Naollin Goossens Salgado, Samuelchunghyun Lai and Chevonne Ting, Ms Gibbons, Ms McPherson, Dr Gross (representing the board), Caroline Mornington-Sanford (parent representative), Milena Salgado (PTA representative), Lisa Ambrose (staff representative) and Shavez Cheema (NGO representative). A huge thank you to all of the students, parents and staff that joined in cleaning up the beach in Kinarut last week! The massive effort from everybody resulted in 435kg of rubbish being cleaned from the beach. It’s great to see our Global Citizens leading the way on an important issue in Sabah and coming up with so many other brilliant ideas while they were at it!
The total collection by House were;
Sapi – 157.8kg
Gaya – 141.3kg
Sulug – 127.4kg
