Staffing 2019-20

Throughout May we have been introducing our new staff and below you can see who some of them are and read a little introduction about them. Please note for Primary teachers, class teachers have not been allocated yet for next year.

Rose Tooley (Biology / Science)

Science is my main passion in life; my aim as a teacher is to impart my enthusiasm onto students. I am currently working in Moscow with my partner Curtis Baxter. We have both taught there for two years, and also in the UK prior to that. I am thoroughly excited to join the Kinabalu International School community to defrost from my current climate but also to learn about a new culture. Similarly, I am very excited by the diving and trekking opportunities in Borneo. Other interests of mine include travelling and baking.

Ms Tooley will be working in the Secondary science department and carrying on from Ms Davies as she heads off to Uzbekistan in August.

Amy Bater (History)

I’m from Sunny Southend-on-Sea in Essex! I am travelling to Sabah with my partner as it has been our ambition for a long time to teach internationally and explore Asia and immerse ourselves in the culture and lifestyle. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone in the KIS community and getting to know you all over the coming years. My favourite part of history to teach is definitely World War I because the students can get a real sense of what it was like in the trenches from the wealth of evidence available. They can explore history in an authentic way that helps them to fall in love with the subject.

Ms Bater will be teaching History in the Secondary school and carrying on from Mr O’Kane as he prepares to move back closer to home with his family in Ireland.
