Global Citizenship Award
Following on from the Secondary department awarding Miche Sappia the Global Citizen Award for the older students, I would like to ask the parent community for any nominations from the current Primary students for this award. I am looking for one student who upholds the KIS definition of Global Citizenship.
I am looking for a student who understands that we are all connected, upholds the values of equality and actively contributes to the development of a better world. Put more simply I am looking for nominations, from both parents and students, for a student who has an awareness of the wider world and a sense of their own role within it, while enquiring, discussing, thinking critically, reflecting and collaborating. I am looking for a student who applies their learning to real life issues as they participate in the community at a range of levels, from locally to globally.

If you have a Primary student in mind, please can you either come and talk to me or send me their name and the reasons for their nomination by Friday 14th June, thank you. Nominations will be welcomed from all members of the KIS community.
Dental Screening
Primary was very lucky this week to have had Dr Devi and her dental nurse in school undertaking preliminary dental screening across the department. Dr Devi came in to school on Tuesday and worked tirelessly all day checking the teeth of those students whose parents gave permission. If your child had their teeth checked this week, then they will have brought home a copy of the findings earlier this week. Please do check your child’s bag if you have not seen this yet.
School Photographs
Copies of all school photographs and sibling photographs have now been sent home. Please do ensure you return the proof along with the payment to school if you would like to order any copies for yourself or family. The deadline for all payments to be received by school is 24th May please.
Progress Tests and End of Year Reports
Primary students in Key Stage Two have been working very hard for the past three weeks undertaking their GL Education Progress Tests. Next Week, Year Two will begin their online testing. As in previous years, the results of these end of year tests will be sent home at the end of the term in your child’s report. Reports will be issued on Monday 1st July. If you are leaving for your summer holiday early and would like a soft copy of the report and Progress Test results emailed to you, please send me an email nickyrussell@kis.edu.my and I will ensure that the report is emailed to you during the final week of term.
