From the Head of PE and Sport 14.10.2023
It has been a very active and amazing first half-term for PE and Sport! We have seen fantastic engagement and learning taking place across the school. There was yet more excitement in the High Jump events that took place during lunch this week. Lots of students were filling the hall to cheer on their friends and support their House competitors and we were treated to some fantastic performances with more records challenged and in one case shattered!
Both Julia and Tiggi (from Sulug) broke the existing Year 11-13 Girls High Jump record before Julia went on to win the competition with a best result and new school record of 1.24m! The Year 9/10 boys High Jump event was equally captivating and kept all in attendance on the edge of their seats with some great jumping from Leroy, Sean and Joe. In the end Leroy was the last one standing and with his final jump of the competition set the bar at 1.50m. Clearing it beautifully he equalled the existing record. Well done to all those who have competed in events over the past two weeks and earn their teams points leading into the full day on December 5th.

We have also seen 70 students sign up for the FOBISIA Friendly Games across the 3 age groups from students in Years 5-10. Alongside this we are seeing continued growth and development in our Liga SupaRimau teams in their 3rd season of the year with 45 players taking part in the 3 age groups and we are hopeful that this will continue to grow in the new year with the potential of adding an U14’s team into the league.
U15 FOBISIA Friendly Games – Vipers are ready to go!
It feels like the time has come around very quickly for our U15 FOBISIA Vipers. While their classmates will still be enjoying a nice lie in and day off school, they will be meeting at the airport on the morning of Monday 23rd ready to set off for Thailand.
The team is extremely excited about the prospect of competing with other schools around Asia, with other teams coming from Thailand, Malaysia (Penang) and Korea. They will challenge themselves across the four sports – athletics, swimming, basketball and football and work hard to achieve both individual and team goals that they have set themselves.
In an email I received this week from one of the students attending the trip, he referred to the team as the “Dream Team”. Whilst this term for me sparks memories of the 1992 American Basketball Team, I thought it was a fantastic comment to make and highlights the level of self-belief that they have built throughout their 8 weeks of training.
I have no doubt that the team will take to the challenge and do themselves, their families and the school proud in their actions both on and off the sports field throughout the competition. Please join me in wishing our 2023 U15 Vipers all the very best of luck for a safe and successful competition!!

Liga SupaRimau Season C
After a couple of weeks away from the field, all three teams are back in action this morning and I’m sure the players are keen to get on the pitch and give it their best efforts. Good luck Vipers!
