From the Principal 04.03.2023
Dear KIS Community,
As we move into March, planning and preparation is in full swing for the next few weeks with A Global Arts Day, a second Music Recital, the annual Board and School Leadership Blue Sky Day, School Maths Day (also known as Pi Day so you should be able to work out when it is), Year 5 Residential trip to Zip Borneo, our annual Family Fun Day returns, Primary Sports day, Year 3 have their residential to Outward Bound Sabah, our termly celebration assemblies in Primary and Secondary and of course, Earth Hour. Did I mention, that’s just for the next three weeks!
First and foremost, our students have been working hard and making great progress in their studies. Years 12 and 13 have had an opportunity to show this in their mock examinations taking place at the moment. We are proud of all our students’ dedication and commitment to their education. Our teachers have been providing engaging and challenging lessons and learning opportunities that help our students to grow and learn to reach their full potential.
Over this past couple of months our sports teams have been doing well, and we have had some impressive performances at recent competitions. Our music and drama programmes have also been busy preparing for upcoming performances, and we can’t wait to see the talents of our students on display. We have also had our first student this year receive the coveted Gold Award for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, well done Freya in Year 13, a fantastic achievement in record time.
Beyond academics and extracurricular activities, our school has a strong sense of community. We have been organising events and activities that bring students, parents, and staff together, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. As we continue into this second half of the school year, we encourage all students to stay focused and continue working hard. I have no doubt that with their dedication, and the support of our teachers, staff and yourselves, they will achieve great things. Thank you for being a part of our unique and welcoming school community, we look forward to all the wonderful things yet to come this academic year.
Finally, I hope to see many of you tomorrow for the Eco-Warriors’ Beach Clean at Langkah Syabas from 9am to 12pm.
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
