From the Head of Primary 05.11.2022
There are so many fun and exciting things going on in our primary school right now.
Mr Fletcher, one of our Year 3 class teachers, has been very busy encouraging us all to get involved in Movember. Our male members of the community have trimmed, shaved, cut and cropped their facial hair in preparation for Movember and growing a mo (moustache). The ladies can also get involved too with some creative moustache designs worn as a fantastic accessory to any outfit. All the community can get involved so please send your photos to dfletcher@kis.edu.my
Mr Fletcher has put together the first video of our clean-cut participants and each week he will update us on the progress of everyone’s hair growth.
Who will be crowned King of the Mo at the end of the month?
MOVEMBER IS THE LEADING CHARITY CHANGING THE FACE OF MEN’S HEALTH ON A GLOBAL SCALE. You can find out more by visiting:https://movember.com/
Thursday was the Primary Global Goals Day. The day begin with an assembly led by Mr Beresford and the Secondary Eco Warriors (thank you to them and Miss McPherson) after which the students were given a presentation of one of the following global goals:
The Year 6 students did an amazing job of presenting to the different year groups and coming up with a range of engaging and appropriate activities that would be relevant for the year group they were assigned (no easy feat). For the rest of the day, the primary students took part in different activities planned by teachers or presentations led by a number of different visitors. We had a team from DGFC, Scuba Junkie, One Borneo and two of our very own students from Y10 and Y11, Julia Aveline-Rabenjoro talking about Seed of Hope and Grace Lee talking about UBUNTU.
As well as discussing MOVEMBER with the student’s in Friday’s celebration assembly, we announced the Stars of the Week from each class, awarded Bronze certificates and announced which class won the ’Trashless class’ award which is given out each week by the Eco Warriors.

This Saturday Grace Lee is hosting a market and an exhibition/concert as part of her UBUNTU project. Pop into school if you have time. The stalls will be open from 10am. The concert/exhibition starts at 6pm.
Next week, our EYFS department and Year 3 students are out on their first trip of the year. Find out all about that in next week’s newsletter.
On Friday, Mr Gross will be holding a Remembrance Day Assembly for KS2 students at 11.00am.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Take care.
