Welcome back!

What a positive start we have had to the second half term. Even though it has only been a three day week, everyone went straight back into the routine of their lessons and they have all been working super hard! Popping into classes this week, I have seen some fantastic lessons and students that are fully engaged in their learning.

This week the ‘Spotlight is on….

Year 2

Year 2 continued to be busy with a Pirate themed day on their return to school. The students took part in a range of activities such as making a pirate game, decoding a pirate message and finding the buried treasure!  All this was planned as a starting point to engage the students in their new topic for this half term ‘ Explorers and Adventurers’.

On Friday, many of us came to school dressed in Pink!

Why do we wear PINK?

The month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month with its purpose to raise awareness about breast cancer and educate men and women alike about the symptoms, prevention and treatment. Wearing pink and donating money means you are getting involved, raising awareness and supporting charities in their fight against breast cancer.

As well as discussing PINK DAY with the student’s in Friday’s celebration assembly, we celebrated birthdays, announced the Stars of the Week from each class and awarded Bronze certificates.

Next week, Monday is Scary School Day, we encourage students to come in their scariest costumes just for fun!

Thursday will be the Primary Global Goals Day. This will be a whole day off timetable where students will think about important issues affecting our world right now. The Year 6 students will be putting on their ‘leader hats’ in order to teach the other students about some of these issues. Find out more in next week’s newsletter.

Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to a new student and their family who joined us this week:

Gamin in Y2

Have a wonderful weekend.

Take care.
