From the Head of Primary 12.03.2022
This week Year 6 interviewed Benoit and Milena, who have a child in Y5. They run the DGFC centre at the Kinabatangan River. The students spent Monday doing their research. They used a variety of safe websites to find out as much information as they could about Benoit and Milena in order to formulate appropriate questions to ask them. Together the year group came up with a total of 8 fabulous questions.
The Interview took place on Tuesday. The Y6 students who were selected to ask the questions were very confident and as Benoit and Milena gave their answers the students took notes. They then used these notes to write up the interview the following day. Click here to read Helena Kim’s Interview Piece
Next week, Oliver Fletcher’s Interview Piece will be published in KIS Today, our school blog. So watch out for that!

Monday is Maths Day! Every year around the 14th March we celebrate all that is marvellous about maths. After an assembly led by our Primary Maths Lead, Megan Siddall, the students will take part in a rotation of maths activities that will put a wide range of maths skills to the test. Find out all about the fun they had in next week’s newsletter.

In a few weeks (28th-1st March) we will hold our annual Book Week. To ensure you are prepared there are a few things you need to know:
- This Year’s theme is ‘Heroes and Villains’.
- The Big Book Swap will take place on the 25th March. To prepare, students need to bring in a pre-loved book by 25th March.
- 31st March is PJ Day. Students can come into school in their pyjamas.
- 1st April is Book Character Day! Students can come dressed as their favourite Hero or Villain from a Book of their choice.
For more detail, please see the following article from our school librarian and Book Week organiser Fran Colbeck – Book Week Article. As well, check out your child’s Class Dojo page for any other resources that the year group may need for the amazing activities they have planned.

We all love cakes right? Well, next Friday the Primary Student Council will be holding a bake sale at 2pm in conjunction with the Secondary Student Council. This is to raise money for Ukrainian refugees. If you are able to donate cakes for the sale, please send them to the school office first thing Friday morning. As well, please support this by purchasing the delicious cakes that will be on sale in the playground from 2pm.
