Saturday 24th April

Dear KIS Community,

A huge thank you to all members of our community for the support and understanding shown over the past week. Testing so many of our community has not been easy but we believe it has helped us break the chain and minimise the risk to all of us. Having the Primary children in school this past week has been good and I am pleased that online learning is going well across the secondary school. Next week exams begin for Years 12 & 13 and these will continue as planned, with the exams for Year 11 beginning the week after. On behalf of all our staff, I wish all our students taking exams the very best of luck. You have all worked so hard and we are proud of all of you and for all your efforts.

Today is the last day of a three day virtual private and international education fair (PISF) that we are participating in. Prospective parents have the opportunity to visit our virtual booth and live chat with members of our admissions and leadership team. As part of our school’s presence we were asked to create webinars on current educational issues, you can view these if you are interested in the following topics (I can personally recommend the third one):

A Levels at KIS

Digital Parenting

International Vs Intercultural

Our staff are not the only ones to have a virtual presence. On Thursday, three of our Primary KS2 students took part in the Nexus Global Summit. Eshaaana, Fion and Serene wrote and presented their speeches along with many other students from across Malaysia. They did really well and put themselves forward as global citizens discussing the importance of diversity and representing Kinabalu International School. You can read their speeches in the Primary section from last week.

On a final note, it gives me great pleasure to be able to welcome the latest member of our community to you, baby Emilia Adams was born on Monday this week. On behalf of KIS, congratulations to proud parents Mr and Mrs Adams. Mum and baby are both doing well.

Wishing you all a safe and relaxing weekend,
