From the Principal 23.01.2021
Saturday 23rd January
Dear KIS Community,
This past week has been an opportunity to read through all the domain reports and evidence that have been prepared for the CIS visit in March. I am privileged to work with staff, students and parents that have been, and continue to be, committed to the ongoing development of KIS. Over 150 pages make up the full report (not including the evidence folders), and the committees (made up of staff, students, and parents) have been thorough in reviewing what we do and how we do it, to ensure we meet the international standards for re-accreditation.
The process of reflection and team work that we have been through while putting this report together has shown us we are continuing in the right direction since our last visit and we are currently on a journey. The reality of compiling a self-study whilst enduring repeated school closures with online learning is a testament to the community spirit for carrying on for the benefit of the school and it’s community.
Covid-19 has had a far greater impact on our lives than could ever have been imagined when we first started our re-accreditation process. In developing our longer-term strategy, we understand that the five-year plan must be a working and evolving document. We need to review our intentions and ensure a strong and viable future for the school and its community. Our self-study, whilst coming to an end for preparation of our visit, must now also act as a starting point for the next part of our journey. Our vision to nurture global citizens in a caring and respectful environment continues to shape all we do and who we are.
On a lighter note, though equally as important, is the competition that is heating up between students, staff and parents. Have you been logging your exercise? Do you count your km’s and do your km’s count? Follow this link to add your exercise efforts to the collective for the students, staff or parents and let’s see who can get around Sabah first.
The MCO has been extended to February 4th and as such school will continue as it is currently until such time that we can update you all with any changes.
As always, stay safe and have a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
