Saturday 28th November

Dear KIS Community,

It has not been the week we had expected for Global Goals and International Day, but I have to say how impressed I have been with our online version. Our students have been fantastic at rising to the challenge, not just in taking part, but in leading many of the sessions. A huge well done and thank you to everyone who has been involved, whether you just sat and listened, or if you asked questions or you were presenting. Well done for being a part of nurturing global citizens at KIS.

Another thank you is needed for all the members of our community who have been growing, painting, sticking and digitising hair on their upper lips. Movember is coming to its natural end and we have had some very entertaining designs for moustaches this year, and I hope we have started some conversations to help raise awareness for men’s health. Thank you to everyone involved and to Mr Fletcher for faithfully recording the process over this past month.

More thanks, this time to everyone who prepared and donated hampers or other items for the International Day online auction that took place over this past week. It has been fun watching the bids each day and seeing the competition increase as the week went by. At the time of writing, the auction was still live, so by the time we read this on Saturday there will be some happy winners of some wonderful items. Congratulations to them all and thank you to everyone who took part. Well done to the PTASC for organising this year’s virtual International Day, another first and definitely one to remember.

If you are reading this before 9.30am (check your clock) please remember to join us for the KIS AGM at 9.30am through Zoom. Click to your WhatsApp school feed for the link and join us live. If you are reading this after 10.30am then I hope I can say thank you for joining us in the AGM, it was great to see you.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has been helping with the KIS Christmas Angels, your donations will be very well received by all at the Sabah Cheshire Home.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Ian Gross
