From the Head of Primary 17.10.2020

As we approach the half term break I would like to thank parents and guardians for their continued support. The first term of the new school year is always a long one. The half term break will give us all the opportunity to recharge our batteries. As I reflect on what has happened since August, we have much to celebrate and be proud of. The KIS community finally returned to school after a long break and I can confidently say that the primary children certainly took it all in their stride. Understandably there was a little apprehension but the children were all so happy to be able to return to school and meet up again with friends and teachers that the new SOPs did not faze them at all. We all quickly settled back into the routines of school and although it looked a little different, our adaptable and resilient children got down to the business of learning and getting to know their new teachers. In fact is was as though we had never been away.

During the half term break I have challenged the children to carry out random acts of kindness and via the school Dojo page let me know what they have been up to. The idea is to do a small deed for someone without expecting anything in return and I have told the children that it’s the little things that make a big difference. Please encourage your children to take part and post on Dojo. Grownups can take part too!

Finally, I would like to congratulate our primary children in Year 5 and 6 who contributed to the very first edition of KIS Today; the school newspaper for the KIS community. They did not hesitate to rise to the challenge of collaborating with secondary and contributing their very first articles. Fion, Catherine, Janesse, Oscar and Sabrina you did a great job!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and half term break.
