Saturday 26th September

Dear KIS Community,

Despite not being able to travel, our students have been competing globally in a number of competitions against fellow FOBISIA schools and we have been doing very well. You can read more about some fantastic successes in the Secondary section of the newsletter. I am very proud of our students’ achievements and look forward to further opportunities where our students can excel.

Recently we have all seen the news that numbers of Covid-19 are rising across parts of Sabah and it is understandable that people are trying to second guess what the government may or may not do. I wish to reassure you that we are ready and prepared for the learning to continue safely whether in school or at home. During the last year when we were working remotely, your feedback was invaluable in supporting our planning and has allowed us to develop robust learning strategies for future events, and should they happen to occur, we are organised and ready to carry on teaching and learning.

Work towards our CIS visit continues and I would like to thank all of our staff, parents and students who have been directly involved in the self-study. We are making good progress and very much on track to submit all documentation and evidence before the end of this year. CIS have now confirmed that we will be having a virtual visit in March to support the health and safety of our community and the visiting team members. The virtual visit will involve all the usual meetings with students, parents and staff. Tours around the school, visits into lessons and observations of daily school life will all still take place. The visit will be a busy week and as we get closer to March 2021 we will be able to share more details for what is involved.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Ian Gross
