From the Head of Secondary 13.06.2020
Back to school for Key Stages 4 and 5!
We are all delighted that we will soon be welcoming Years 10, 11 and 12 back into school, even though it will only be for a short period of time. It will be good for all of us to get back into a school routine and for students to be able to see their peers ‘live’. I will be writing to students and parents during the coming week to give specific information so that we will have a smooth transition back into school. Home learning will continue for Years 7, 8 and 9 and thank you once again to those who have been approaching their lessons with a positive attitude, doing their best in all lessons and submitting work on time.
Update on the Global Citizenship Award! It has proven to be very difficult to choose one winner this year as we have a group of nominees who have all done incredibly well over the last year to fulfil the expectations of global citizenship. For this reason, I will be contacting all of the candidates and organising a time for an interview. This process will give them an opportunity to really show the qualities that this award recognises. Once the interviews are over, we will be in a position to choose one winner of the Global Citizenship Award 2020.
Next Tuesday the 16th we are holding the Year 13 Virtual Graduation. Although we will not be together in reality, this will still be a fantastic event and an opportunity for to recognise and congratulate our Year 13 students. More news on that in next week’s newsletter.
Teachers are currently writing student reports. These will be published during the last week of term and they will reflect progress and achievement over the whole year, and also during Term 3. We are also planning a Celebration Assembly, which will take place on the last day of term. It will be a virtual affair and, as in our normal assemblies, we will be recognising students’ achievements including special awards, such as the Global Citizenship Award, Duke of Edinburgh International Awards, Sports Awards and Merit Certificates.
Stay well and have a wonderful weekend!
