THE ONLINE LEARNER AWARD 23.05.2020
The Online Learner Award for Secondary Students
We live in strange times as we move into our third month of lockdown or rather ‘lockout’ as far as the school is concerned. The whole community has had to adapt to a new way of life and our students have managed to cope admirably. This why we decided that a new award, the Online Learner Award, is needed to recognise their efforts. With remote learning, our students have had to display new levels of self-motivation, self-reliance and persistence along with developing their skills as independent learners. Basically we have asked them to show the maturity and study skills of university students and they have responded brilliantly. Being a successful independent learner requires good time management, good communication skills, determination, resilience, creativity and many other attributes. The students who have been recognised today richly deserve the Online Learner Award for all their efforts. While everybody wants to get back to school, we should look on the bright side and consider all of the new experiences and skills we have developed in the past months. These skills and attitudes will benefit our students in years to come.
If you see your name on this list, many congratulations to you! We will ensure that you receive your certificates and when you look at it you will be reminded that, during a difficult time in the world, you rose to the challenge and showed all your best qualities.
